AI chatbot for WhatsApp, which to pick and how to connect it (2026)

Guides4 min readPublished July 16, 2026

AI chatbot for WhatsApp, what unlocks AI replies in each tool and how to connect your bot through Meta's official flow, with no code. On Breezaro it answers from the same knowledge base as your website widget, a human can take over, and it is included from the Standard plan and the trial. Current as of 17 July 2026.

Your customers already message on WhatsApp. Breezaro puts your AI chatbot there too, answering from the same knowledge base as your website widget, and it is included from the Standard plan, and during the trial. Here is what it does, how it compares with the other tools, and how to connect it.

Your AI chatbot, now on WhatsApp

Connect your WhatsApp Business number and the same bot that answers on your website starts answering on WhatsApp:

  • Answers from your content. The bot uses your knowledge base (website, documents, product catalog), so WhatsApp replies are as accurate as the ones in your widget.
  • Multilingual. It replies in the customer's language automatically.
  • Human takeover. An operator can take over a WhatsApp conversation at any time with Take Control, the same way as on the web. The bot steps back while a person is handling it.
  • One inbox. WhatsApp chats land in the same conversation history as your web chats, with web push for new messages.
  • Message templates. Send Meta-approved templates to re-engage a customer after the 24-hour window closes. This is an operator action.
  • Delivery and read receipts, plus a typing indicator.

Included from the Standard plan

WhatsApp is included from the Standard plan (18.99 US$/mo), and during the 30-day trial. There is no WhatsApp surcharge and no separate AI add-on. A bot reply on WhatsApp is billed exactly like a reply in your web widget, by the model's credit cost plus any tools it uses.

Tools differ in what you need before an AI can answer on WhatsApp, and in whether that AI comes with the plan or is a separate purchase:

ToolWhat unlocks an AI on WhatsApp
BreezaroThe Standard plan, or the trial. The AI is part of it.
SmartsuppWhatsApp is on every plan; the AI (Mira) is bought separately.
TidioA base plan for WhatsApp; the AI (Lyro) is an add-on.
ChatbaseTheir Standard plan and up.
IntercomAn enterprise suite; the AI (Fin) is billed per resolution.

(From each tool's public pricing pages, current as of 17 July 2026.)

Smartsupp puts the channel on every plan, which is more generous than we are on availability. The difference is what arrives with it: on Breezaro the channel and the AI are the same subscription, so there is nothing else to add before the bot can answer.

How to connect it

Setup runs through Meta's official flow, with no code:

  1. In the dashboard, open Integrations and choose WhatsApp.
  2. Sign in with Facebook and pick your WhatsApp Business Account and phone number (Meta Embedded Signup).
  3. Confirm, and the bot starts answering on that number.

The full steps are in the WhatsApp integration guide. You need a Meta Business account and a WhatsApp Business number.

Honest limits

  • Text for now. The bot answers in text. Images, audio and documents are not supported in this version.
  • The 24-hour window. WhatsApp (Meta's rule, not ours) only lets a business send free-form messages within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Outside that window you re-engage with an approved template.
  • Meta's own fees. On our side, a WhatsApp bot reply is billed exactly like a web reply, by the model's credit cost plus any tools. On Meta's side, support is cheaper than most people expect: when a customer messages you first, you are in a 24-hour service window that Meta does not charge for, so answering inbound questions is free. You only pay Meta for template messages you send to re-open a chat outside that window. See Meta's WhatsApp pricing for the details.

FAQ

Is there a WhatsApp surcharge? No. Once you are on the Standard plan the channel is included, and a bot reply is billed the same as a web reply, by the model's credit cost plus any tools. Meta's own fees are separate, but answering inbound customers falls in a free 24-hour service window, so Meta usually charges nothing for support replies.

Does the WhatsApp bot use the same knowledge base? Yes. It is the same bot and the same content as your website widget, so the answers match.

Can a human take over a WhatsApp chat? Yes. An operator can take over at any time, and the messages appear in the same inbox as your web chats.

What can't it do yet? It is text-only for now (no images or files), and, per WhatsApp's rules, free-form replies only work within 24 hours of the customer's last message.

WhatsApp is where a lot of customers already are. With Breezaro your AI chatbot meets them there from the Standard plan, with no channel surcharge and no separate AI fee.
